About Jubilee!

[About JUBILEE!]    [Wall of Fame]    [Gala]    [Waa-Mu in the News]

The Waa-Mu show was born as a joint effort of the Women's Athletic Association and Men's Union during the 1928-1929 academic year. It soon garnered a reputation as “the greatest college show in America,” and has served as an important launching pad for some of Northwestern's most talented and respected performers. Under the direction of Dominic Missimi and the baton of Dr. Mallory Thompson, JUBILEE! Is the 75th edition of this historic show.

JUBILEE! will honor the Waa-Mu Show tradition with the inclusion of several musical numbers by its talented alumni and several new numbers by Northwestern's current crop of student writers. Thematically, the show will celebrate the “special occasions” we all cherish - holidays, birthdays, reunions, and of course, anniversaries. The show will include songs from the earliest years of Waa Mu, including the title song from the first ever Waa Mu show, “Good Morning Glory” in 1929, as well as songs by long-time Waa-Mu alumni composers Lloyd Norlin and Wilson Stone. JUBILEE! will also honor the work of more recent alumni including renowned composers and lyricists Sheldon Harnick, Larry Grossman and Jeff Blumenkrantz. Joining the artistic team will be critically acclaimed choreographers David Bell and Marc Robin.

To mark this momentous occasion, numerous celebratory events will surround the show. On Friday, April 28th, Waa Mu will host an Opening Night Gala reception and afterglow party for alums, their guests, and friends of Waa Mu. (see “tickets” section for more information). The Gala will include the inaugural induction of several prestigious alumni into the “Waa-Mu Hall of Fame.” Wall of Fame inductees include Joe Miller, John Paynter, Lloyd Norlin, Sheldon Harnick, Wilson Stone, Larry Grossman, Tom Roland and Ken Cornwall. Several other prestigious alums have been named to the JUBILEE!
